課程介紹     Introduction
課程的目的是訓練學生練習在不同狀況及主題下進行英文口說及聽力。課程使用許多小遊戲例如資訊互補, 角色扮演、討論、對話以及其他引導學生開口說英文的活動。每個活動會讓學生進行一項任務,該任務會讓學生需要練習以下口說形態:互動型對話、交易型對話、表演式口說。在課程中學生需要進行三個口說考試以及兩個演說。透過課程,學生的順暢度及使用英文對話的反應會有所進步。

《 課程介紹 -- English 》
This course is divided into two parts; the first part aims to enhance students’ listening skills and the second allows students to exercise speaking skills. The listening section will guide students to identify and comprehend English reductions, intonations and main ideas in English conversation. The speaking section will utilize diverse communicative activities for students to practice spoken English. After this class, students will be able to carry out intermediate level of English conversation. They will be able to deliver self-introductions, short speeches, carry out day-to-day conversations and describe details and events.

課程要求     Requirement
《 上課要求 》
1. As a member of this class, student should respect (尊重) the instructor (講師) and classmates by NOT sleeping, playing on your phone, or doing unrelated work during class time. Failure (失敗) to cooperate (配合) will result in grade penalty (罰分扣分).
2. In case of absence (缺席), student does NOT have to inform the instructor.
Student is responsible for any missed assignment and announcement (佈達、宣告).
3. For every unexcused (無原因) absence, there will be a 20% attendance grade penalty (罰分扣分). For absence due to illness, personal reason, bereavement (喪假) or school event, notify Student Affairs (學務處) and there will be a 10% attendance grade penalty.
4. Entering class after ten minutes of the class starting time is considered late. Tardiness (遲到) will result in 5% attendance grade penalty. Repeated lateness will result in 10% attendance grade penalty. Being late for more than 30 minutes is considered an absence.
5. If you are absent on the day of an assignment due date, you may hand it in next class. However, there will be a 10% penalty for lateness.
6. If you are absent or late on the quiz, test, exam or presentation day, you are responsible for contacting the instructor for completing a makeup test within a week. There will be a 20% penalty. No quiz, test or exam can be taken before the test day. Once the quiz, test an exam has been graded and discussed in class, no student can take the make up test anymore.
7. There will be NO make up assignment or test for students who are failing this course at the end of the semester. Students should work hard during the semester. 學期末沒有補分機制,請同學在學期間努力。
8. All of the course PowerPoints are uploaded onto a Google drive folder. The link will be posted on ICAN notice board.

《 報告要求 》
Presentation Guideline:
1. Make sure you have an opening (introduce yourself) and conclusion.
2. Never ever use your phone as your script. Use paper!
3. Stand in the middle not behind the lectern. Show your hands!
4. Do NOT read your script. Maintain eye contact. How? Read half of the sentence and, memorize half.
5. Speak up! Make sure your pronunciations are correct.
6. How many times have you rehearsed?

《 討論要求 》
Student are expected to participate in all discussions and class activities. Failure to do so will result in a 0 for participation grade.

《 其他要求 》
Academic Honesty and Integrity
Anything that you can find, I can also find. Assignment, presentation or any project that is plagiarized from any sources, to any extent, will result in a zero for the presentation. Work that is plagiarized from a non-English source and translated via Google translate or any translation application is equally unacceptable. Blatantly quoting entire paragraph from any source, or simply changing a few words is shoddy academic behavior.
Students who fail to comply with academic honesty and integrity will receive failing grades. No second chances will be given.

學術誠信與倫理
任何你找得到的資料,我都找得到。剽竊而來的作業、報告或作品,不管長度,都會造成零分。演講內容若是從其他語言的來源由Google或任何翻譯軟體翻譯為英文的,同樣不會被接受。毫不忌諱地引言一整段或只修改少數字是差勁的學術行為。這也會導致不及格的成績。無法遵守學術誠信與倫理的同學,將會收到不及格的成績。同學不會有第二次完成的機會。希望同學要有學術常識。
